BPM Sets a New Record: DNlite-IVD103 Secures Dual SFDA Approvals in Saudi Arabia

Bio Preventive Medicine Corp. ("BPM") announced that its innovative diagnostic test, DNlite-IVD103, has simultaneously received marketing authorization from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) for two distinct indications: predicting renal function deterioration in Type 2 diabetes and prognostic monitoring for kidney transplants. This unprecedented achievement marks the first time a Taiwanese-listed medical device company has secured two market authorizations for a single product simultaneously in the same country. 

Rapid Regulatory Success Validates Strategic Focus 

Dr. Karen Tseng, Chairman and CEO of BPM, stated that DNlite-IVD103 is a truly innovative medical product. The company submitted marketing applications for both indications to the SFDA in the second half of the year and successfully obtained dual clearances in just six months. This rapid approval is the strongest validation of the company's technological edge and strategic clinical selection. Furthermore, as Saudi Arabia is the largest economy and the most influential nation in the Middle East, DNlite-IVD103 is poised to significantly expand its market penetration across the MENA region. 

As a leading global crude oil producer, Saudi Arabia has accumulated substantial national wealth. The country's transition from a nomadic desert lifestyle to rapid urbanization has drastically altered dietary habits, leading to a sharp surge in the diabetic population. 

Addressing a $7.5 Billion Unmet Healthcare Need 

Dr. Tseng noted that during a field visit to Saudi Arabia in February of this year, local physicians indicated that the current diabetic population in the country has already exceeded 6 million—far surpassing the 4.3 million reported by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2021. Given that over 50% of diabetic patients succumb to cardiovascular diseases, the Saudi government places immense importance on combating diabetes and its related complications. The country has established over 20 national diabetes prevention centers, with annual diabetes-related healthcare expenditures approaching $7.5 billion USD. Additionally, Saudi Arabia's traditionally conservative attitude toward organ donation is gradually shifting toward greater openness, evidenced by the ongoing construction of the country's largest private kidney transplant center. 

Penetrating the Hospital Supply Chain 

Chairman Tseng further explained that the Saudi healthcare system differs significantly from those in Europe and the United States. Price is not the absolute deciding factor, and each hospital operates under its own turnkey model. Since the visit in February, BPM has maintained steady, high-level interactions with local Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). Now that DNlite-IVD103 is officially approved by the SFDA with dual licenses, the company is highly confident in successfully integrating into the supply chains of local hospital systems. 

Accelerating Commercialization and Government Tenders 

Currently, several distributors have proactively approached BPM to explore partnership opportunities. Moving forward, the company will adopt an aggressive negotiation strategy to swiftly establish a robust local marketing network. Concurrently, BPM will actively pursue inclusion in Saudi government procurement tenders and apply for national health insurance reimbursement, strategically positioning itself to capture this massive commercial opportunity.
